Sycamore Park needs a community fridge - Wanjiru's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $300 for materials.
🇹🇿 Zanzibar Urban/West, Tanzania264 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 148 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Tools hire and delivery: $30
• Materials: $215
Thanks for reading all this.

Thinking of you, Wanjiru. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My husband and I read this together.
I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from San Diego.
you're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money
Take care, Wanjiru. Shared it with a few friends. Take care.
so sorry you're going through this, Wanjiru. More neighborhoods should do this. My husband and I read this together.
