Zinhle was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in April. The surgeon at Stellenbosch Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,950, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,350 short.
my mother has been in and out of Stellenbosch Regional Medical Center since April. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,950 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Zinhle struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Zinhle won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
