Surgery fund for Zawadi: a partial thyroidectomy in Dodoma
After severe cataracts in both eyes, Zawadi was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In August I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Dodoma Orthopedic Institute recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,050, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $750 short.
Doctors at Dodoma Orthopedic Institute told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a seamstress, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,050 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a seamstress have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
