Surgery fund for Zainab: laparoscopic cyst removal in Berlin
A scheduled laparoscopic cyst removal in October is out of reach without help covering $3,100 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Berlin University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $3,900, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $3,100 short.
Doctors at Berlin University Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $3,900 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $580
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $2,150
• Travel and lodging for the family: $370
With deep gratitude,
Zainab

Wishing you the best, Zainab. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Berlin.
