Surgery fund for Yui: cataract surgery in Kawasaki
After gallstones with repeated infections, Yui was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Yui was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in October. The surgeon at Kawasaki Orthopedic Institute recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $900 short.
my mother has been in and out of Kawasaki Orthopedic Institute since October. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Yui struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Yui won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $900 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $165
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $220
• Physiotherapy sessions: $515
