Yi was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $5,950 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Yi struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Yi won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. post-operative medication comes first ($170) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
