Surgery fund for Xolani: knee replacement surgery in Johannesburg
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $1,050 of the cost.

In February I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Johannesburg University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,300, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $1,050 short.
Doctors at Johannesburg University Hospital told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without knee replacement surgery. I work as a delivery rider, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,300 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a delivery rider have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
