Wulan was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in December. The surgeon at Saint Anne Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $700 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Anne Hospital since December. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Wulan struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Wulan won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $700 goes: • Post-operative medication: $30 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $45 • Physiotherapy sessions: $130 • Travel and lodging for the family: $70 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $425 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
