Wendy was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in May. The surgeon at Pittsburgh General Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,100 short. my sister has been in and out of Pittsburgh General Hospital since May. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find. While we wait, Wendy struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Wendy won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,100 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $530 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $320 • Travel and lodging for the family: $250 Thank you so much. - Teresa

Wishing you peace. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Ekurhuleni but we're thinking of you. Love from Ekurhuleni.

      • Wishing Wendy a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
