Wafula was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in November. The surgeon at Kasarani Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my brother has been in and out of Kasarani Regional Medical Center since November. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Wafula struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Wafula won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
