Surgery fund for Vipul: knee replacement surgery in Howrah
After a large ovarian cyst, Vipul was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Vipul was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Howrah University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,150 short.
my son has been in and out of Howrah University Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Vipul struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Vipul won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $630
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $200
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $40
• Post-operative medication: $60
• Physiotherapy sessions: $135
• Travel and lodging for the family: $85
Glad we found this place.
