Surgery fund for Vikash: spinal decompression surgery in Polokwane
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in November is out of reach without help covering $2,050 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Polokwane General Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,750, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $2,050 short.
Doctors at Polokwane General Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $950
• Post-operative medication: $100
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $115
• Travel and lodging for the family: $75
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $810
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
