Surgery fund for Vida: a partial thyroidectomy in Accra
Vida needs a partial thyroidectomy at Saint Francis Hospital and the family is $1,000 short of the hospital's estimate.

Vida was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,650, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,000 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,650 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Vida struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Vida won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $300
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $440
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $115
• Post-operative medication: $35
• Physiotherapy sessions: $75
• Travel and lodging for the family: $35
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

You're not alone, Ebo. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Thinking of Accra.
So sorry you're going through this, Ebo. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Dayton.
