Stockholm
Torsten was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Stockholm Regional Medical Center recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $4,150 short. my husband has been in and out of Stockholm Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Torsten struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Torsten won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $4,150 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,800 • Post-operative medication: $340 • Travel and lodging for the family: $210 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $1,200 • Physiotherapy sessions: $600 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Ebba

  • Good luck, Ebba. Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Stockholm.

    • Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 6 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Stockholm.

      • Sending strength. Get well soon. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Warren.

        • Hang in there, Ebba. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in São Paulo donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
