Surgery fund for Todd: spinal decompression surgery in San Jose

Todd was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in July. The surgeon at San Jose University Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,550 short.
my son has been in and out of San Jose University Hospital since July. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Todd struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Todd won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
