Tania was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in June. The surgeon at Dhaka University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $700 short.
my wife has been in and out of Dhaka University Hospital since June. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Tania struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Tania won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
