Surgery fund for Siobhan: cataract surgery in Dublin
After a cleft palate needing repair, Siobhan was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Siobhan was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in May. The surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $5,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $4,300 short.
my wife has been in and out of Saint Francis Hospital since May. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $5,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Siobhan struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Siobhan won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $4,300 goes:
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,600
• Post-operative medication: $310
• Travel and lodging for the family: $350
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,040
Glad we found this place.

How is Siobhan doing now?
This could happen to any of us. Greetings from Epe.
