Shilpa was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections in August. The surgeon at Nagpur University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,800, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $900 short.
my mother has been in and out of Nagpur University Hospital since August. The doctors say gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,800 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shilpa struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Shilpa won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
