Shazia was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in August. The surgeon at Lahore General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,400, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $850 short.
my wife has been in and out of Lahore General Hospital since August. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Shazia struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Shazia won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
