Selamawit was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in March. The surgeon at Hawassa University Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $950 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Hawassa University Hospital since March. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Selamawit struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
