Scarlett was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $14,250, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $8,500 short. my wife has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $14,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Scarlett struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Scarlett won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $8,500 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $4,050 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $3,000 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $610 • Post-operative medication: $270 • Physiotherapy sessions: $400 • Travel and lodging for the family: $170 With deep gratitude, Dennis

keep going, Dennis. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
