Surgery fund for Samuel: a partial thyroidectomy in Kakamega
A scheduled a partial thyroidectomy in October is out of reach without help covering $1,050 of the cost.

In June I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal. My surgeon at Kakamega Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,400, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,050 short.
Doctors at Kakamega Regional Medical Center told me a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a school bus driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,400 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a school bus driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $490
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $300
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $45
• Post-operative medication: $40
• Physiotherapy sessions: $110
• Travel and lodging for the family: $65
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Kakamega.
Hope this works out for you. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Love from São Paulo.
Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Kakamega.
