Samuel was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in July. The surgeon at Saint Mary Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,200 short. my father has been in and out of Saint Mary Hospital since July. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Samuel struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Samuel won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,200 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $470 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $100 • Travel and lodging for the family: $40 • Post-operative medication: $70 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $520 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
