Surgery fund for Rylee: a craniotomy in Bristol
Rylee needs a craniotomy at Bristol University Hospital and the family is $4,950 short of the hospital's estimate.

In July I was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal. My surgeon at Bristol University Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $10,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $4,950 short.
Doctors at Bristol University Hospital told me a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a craniotomy. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $10,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $4,950 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $350
• Hospital stay (3 nights): $1,500
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $540
• Physiotherapy sessions: $280
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,280
