Raymond was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in September. The surgeon at London University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,750, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $4,400 short.

While we wait, Raymond struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Raymond won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
