Surgery fund for Ramesh: knee replacement surgery in Pune
A scheduled knee replacement surgery in July is out of reach without help covering $850 of the cost.

Ramesh was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Pune University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,050, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $850 short.
my father has been in and out of Pune University Hospital since May. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,050 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Ramesh struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Ramesh won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $850 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $320
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $280
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $95
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Physiotherapy sessions: $65
• Travel and lodging for the family: $60
