Rahima was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in October. The surgeon at Dhaka Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for January. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,250, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $750 short.
my mother has been in and out of Dhaka Orthopedic Institute since October. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Rahima struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Rahima won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
