Rafael was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in June. The surgeon at Alcalá de Henares University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,200 short.
my brother has been in and out of Alcalá de Henares University Hospital since June. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Rafael struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Rafael won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.

Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $2,600. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.
