Pieter was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in September. The surgeon at Soweto University Hospital recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,850, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,400 short.
my father has been in and out of Soweto University Hospital since September. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,850 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Pieter struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Pieter won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
