Surgery fund for Paula: knee replacement surgery in San Francisco
After an aortic valve defect, Paula was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Paula was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in February. The surgeon at San Francisco Regional Medical Center recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,000, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $6,000 short.
my daughter has been in and out of San Francisco Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Paula struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Paula won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
