Paul was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in August. The surgeon at Lyon General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,950 short.
my husband has been in and out of Lyon General Hospital since August. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Paul struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Paul won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $5,950 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,250
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $430
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,270
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Best of luck. Your post was clear and honest. After 11 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Lyon.
