After a benign brain tumor, Paul was cleared for a partial thyroidectomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Paul was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in June. The surgeon at Kakamega University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,800, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,400 short. my husband has been in and out of Kakamega University Hospital since June. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,800 is more than we can find. While we wait, Paul struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Paul won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,400 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $750 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $410 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $100 • Post-operative medication: $50 • Physiotherapy sessions: $90 Thank you for reading my story. - Apio
