Obinna was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in August. The surgeon at Nnewi General Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $700 short. my son has been in and out of Nnewi General Hospital since August. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Obinna struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Obinna won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $700 goes: β€’ Physiotherapy sessions: $120 β€’ Post-operative medication: $55 β€’ Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75 β€’ Hospital stay (4 nights): $450 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Rotimi
