Ning was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in July. The surgeon at Saint Anne Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,050, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $3,050 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Anne Hospital since July. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ning struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Ning won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $3,050 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $165 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,700 • Post-operative medication: $310 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $590 • Physiotherapy sessions: $285 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Jian
