Neema was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in April. The surgeon at Dar es Salaam Community Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $600 short.
my mother has been in and out of Dar es Salaam Community Hospital since April. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Neema struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Neema won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
