In August I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Jinja Orthopedic Institute recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $125, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $100 short. Doctors at Jinja Orthopedic Institute told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a school bus driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $125 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a school bus driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $100 goes: • Post-operative medication: $30 • Travel and lodging for the family: $35 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $35 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Your post was clear and honest. After 27 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Gondar.
