Surgery fund for Nafula: cataract surgery in Machakos
A scheduled cataract surgery in April is out of reach without help covering $450 of the cost.

In December I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Machakos Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for April. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $600, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $450 short.
Doctors at Machakos Regional Medical Center told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without cataract surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $600 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
