Surgery fund for Mwangi: laparoscopic cyst removal in Jinja
Mwangi needs laparoscopic cyst removal at Jinja Orthopedic Institute and the family is $450 short of the hospital's estimate.

In May I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. My surgeon at Jinja Orthopedic Institute recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $600, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $450 short.
Doctors at Jinja Orthopedic Institute told me a large ovarian cyst will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $600 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $450 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $240
• Travel and lodging for the family: $60
• Physiotherapy sessions: $45
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $105
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Mwangi?
Thank you. If you're in Jinja I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks for looking so closely.
looking forward to the next update. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Nairobi
Get well soon. Thinking of Jinja!
Keep going, Mwangi. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out.
