Mohammad was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in July. The surgeon at Southampton University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $3,550 short.
my father has been in and out of Southampton University Hospital since July. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Mohammad struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Mohammad won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
