Surgery fund for Mathilde: a partial thyroidectomy in Paris
Mathilde needs a partial thyroidectomy at Paris General Hospital and the family is $5,300 short of the hospital's estimate.

Mathilde was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in January. The surgeon at Paris General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,300 short.
my mother has been in and out of Paris General Hospital since January. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Mathilde struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Mathilde won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $5,300 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,850
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $2,350
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $195
• Post-operative medication: $270
• Physiotherapy sessions: $340
• Travel and lodging for the family: $295
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
