Mariana was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Ribeirão Preto Orthopedic Institute recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,200, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $1,100 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Ribeirão Preto Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Mariana struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Mariana won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
