Maria was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in July. The surgeon at New York Community Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,500 short.
my wife has been in and out of New York Community Hospital since July. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Maria struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Maria won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
