Marcus was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in February. The surgeon at Duluth Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $8,350 short.
my son has been in and out of Duluth Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Marcus struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Marcus won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
