Manoel was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in May. The surgeon at Caruaru General Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,950, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $2,200 short.
my father has been in and out of Caruaru General Hospital since May. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without gallbladder removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,950 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Manoel struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Manoel won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
