Surgery fund for Liam: cataract surgery in Malmö
After an aortic valve defect, Liam was cleared for cataract surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Liam was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in June. The surgeon at Malmö Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $3,300 short.
my son has been in and out of Malmö Regional Medical Center since June. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Liam struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Liam won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $450
• Post-operative medication: $400
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,450
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
