Lawrence was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in December. The surgeon at Madina Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $190, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $150 short. my husband has been in and out of Madina Orthopedic Institute since December. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $190 is more than we can find. While we wait, Lawrence struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks.
