Lata was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in July. The surgeon at Nagpur Regional Medical Center recommended cataract surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $650 short.
my mother has been in and out of Nagpur Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lata struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Lata won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing.
