A scheduled laparoscopic cyst removal in August is out of reach without help covering $700 of the cost.

In April I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for August. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,150, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $700 short. Doctors at Saint Joseph Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,150 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $700 goes: • Hospital stay (4 nights): $550 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $80 • Physiotherapy sessions: $70 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
