Kumar was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in December. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,700, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $850 short.
my brother has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since December. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kumar struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Kumar won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
