Krishnan was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in August. The surgeon at Saint Catherine Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,850, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,100 short.
my husband has been in and out of Saint Catherine Hospital since August. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,850 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Krishnan struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Krishnan won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
